IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PROCEPT & D+I
Entech Electronics partnered with Procept and D+I to discuss the current climate and continuity within design andmanufacturing both here in Australia and offshore.
The webinar was a collaborative effort between Design + Industry (hyperlink to their website), Procept (hyperlink)and us tailored to help guide those who are seeking more information or expertise on product development, design, manufacturing and introducting new ideas to the market.
The conclusion? That gradual reshoring is the way forward.
Manufacturing is still an important share of the Australian GDP with links to many activities from education toconsumer goods. The talent pool that future generations bring should be fostered to drive bankable IP as opposedto manual labour.
COVID-19 was a call to arms for all countries to get their priorities in check. Now is the time to optimise supplychain’s by bringing back specialised, high value, research-oriented processes, while using off-shore options forheavy lifting. We must adopt remote work, automation and collaboration.
The exchange of breakthrough knowledge for cheap production forms the basis of our future share in the worldeconomy. The next steps forward need to be deliberate and based on realistic assessments of the present-dayscenario. We must prioritise and bank on Australia’s tremendous potential for innovation of products andprocesses, rather than labour.
A big thank you to all those who attended the webinar and to our collaborative partners: Design + Industry and Procept.
